This page will attempt to provide information on
our clubs ski education program that was started in
the Great Falls Middle Schools in 2000. In the spirit of our clubs mission
statement “Promote Skiing in Central Montana”
our club made the decision to focus on an age group that might benefit from the
initial exposure to ski/snowboard activities. We further went on to target
pupils that might not normally have opportunity either socially or
economically. Working with Showdown
Ski Area, the club would pay for one ski rental, lesson, lift ticket and
transportation if required. Taking the lesson is mandatory prior to be released
un-supervised at Showdown. Money to finance this program comes from the clubs
general fund, which used to be earmarked for
charitable donation to Eagle Mount and Special Olympics. It was a Board decision
to fund education in this manner as it promotes skiing and potentially exposes
young people to an activity they could use their whole life.
Mark Cooper ski club Board Member is our key
person for program implementation.
We would like to co-sponsor ski/board clubs in
the Middle Schools if we can find adults in each willing to help.

program and would like to get involved or comment please contact us through the
