Showdown Ski Area (Kings Hill)

is our local ski hill. The Ski Club back in 1937 was instrumental in the establishment of Kings Hill as a ski area. George & Margie Willett AKA Ski Lift Inc. have made what Showdown is today, a first class operation that has something to offer for everyone. Showdown is just one of the reasons Montana is a great place to be.

Introduction

Current president of The Great Falls Ski Club Kari Cann would like to welcome you to our web site. To my knowledge this is the first ski page in the "Big Sky" state. If you take the time to browse around you'll see several things, we are new at cyber-space and that our club has been around for a while. Take a look at some of the great stuff we have to offer on our web site; our newsletter the "Panhandler", photos of trips/events, Montana skiers link to list a few.

Our goal for this season is to double our ski education efforts with the Great Falls Middle Schools. We supported 10 students this season and would like to sponsor 20 next ski season. We can only do this if we continue to increase our membership by 15%, not get just members who pay their money but active individuals that will help keep our club alive. Come support us.

We encourage contact from ski clubs throughout the Internet. Many of our members are "expert" skiers and have skied the best there is in the state and adjoining areas.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who has comments that will help improve our club or that is just looking for information on our area.

***Membership***

Membership is open to anyone however; an adult club member must accompany anyone under the age of 21 on ski trips. The age range of the Club membership is from about the early 20's to the 50's.

We have gone to a one-price membership for those eligible to join the club; each eligible member now pays $20.00 a year. There is no longer a family membership per Board vote Summer 2004. Members receive the Panhandler Newsletter, annual Club directory, and lift ticket voucher from Showdown. The membership year runs from May 1 to April 30, but usually new members signing up after March 1st get the whole next year with their one-year payment.

Your membership must be current to participate in any club ski trip. Guests or non-members are welcome to join us for all other events. Associate memberships are available at $10 per event for those who want to sample the Club before joining. The newsletter and directory are not included with the associate membership.
